Taurodontism—Prevalence, Extent, and Clinical Challenge in Ashkelon, Israel—A Retrospective Study

Taurodontism, a known morpho-anatomic variation in the shape of teeth, has already attracted substantial attention. The aim this study is to contribute by discussing its direct impact on dental practitioner via an evaluation prevalence taurodontism molars Ashkelon, Israel. This retrospective analyzed panoramic radiographs 624 patients (330 males, 294 females), aged 9–29 years—2849; first and second permanent were screened. Objective measurements variables used using statistical SPSS version 27 (IBM, Chicago, IL, USA). Taurodontism was observed 33.6% more prevalent among females (53% vs. 47%) maxillary compared mandibular (57% 43%). overall hypotaurodontism, mesotaurodontism, hypertaurodontism 10.8%, 0.5%, 0.2%, respectively. No difference between right left sides discovered, however, taurodont teeth upper side exhibited highest frequency, while lower had least. occurrence hypotaurodontism molar followed molars. clinical challenge posed endodontic, orthodontic, restorative dentistry discussed, suitable alternative approaches are proposed for practitioners.
